1. Acceptance and scope
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Flashcard King, a study organization and flashcard application. By accessing or using Flashcard King, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must have the legal capacity to accept these Terms. Children and teenagers may use Flashcard King only with the authorization and supervision of a parent or legal guardian when required by applicable law. The responsible adult must monitor use of the app and the content added to it.
3. Local data and security
Flashcard King can be used without creating an in-app account. Your study library is saved on your device. Sync through iCloud, when available on iOS, or Google Drive, when you enable it on Android, uses an account managed by that provider. Protect your device and platform account. Activity through them is your responsibility, except where caused by Flashcard King or otherwise protected by law. Report suspected unauthorized access through Flashcard King's official support channels.
4. Flashcard King features
Flashcard King lets you create and organize decks, collections, subcollections, and flashcards; add formatted text, images, and audio; search, edit, move, and delete content; use General Review; and study with FSRS v6 spaced repetition. The app may also display schedules, history, study streaks, statistics, and estimated next-review dates.
Features may evolve, be renamed, improved, or discontinued. Experimental features may behave differently from their final versions.
5. Educational purpose and scheduling algorithm
Flashcard King is a study-support tool. It does not replace educational, academic, or professional guidance and does not guarantee approval, memorization, or any specific result. FSRS v6 intervals are estimates based on review history and the ratings you provide, such as Again, Hard, Good, and Easy. Results also depend on the quality of your material, the accuracy of your ratings, and your study routine.
General Review allows you to practice without changing spaced-repetition progress, as indicated in the interface. Suspending a flashcard temporarily prevents it from appearing in scheduled sessions until it is restored.
6. User content
You retain ownership of the decks, flashcards, text, images, audio, and other materials you add. To operate the service, you grant Flashcard King a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license, valid while the content is stored, solely to host, technically reproduce, process, organize, adapt for display, transmit, and show that content to you in the app.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions required for uploaded content. Do not submit illegal or offensive material or content that infringes copyright, privacy, image rights, confidentiality, trademarks, or other third-party rights. Avoid adding sensitive personal data unless it is genuinely necessary for your studies.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to violate laws or third-party rights; access accounts, data, or systems without authorization; interfere with security or availability; exploit vulnerabilities; distribute malware; automate abusive access; bypass technical limits; use Flashcard King for harassment, fraud, or unlawful content; or reverse engineer the service where prohibited by law.
8. Flashcard King intellectual property
The application, brand, visual identity, interfaces, institutional text, software, and other proprietary elements are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer ownership of those elements and provide only a limited right to use the service personally.
9. Third-party services
Flashcard King relies on the operating system, app stores, and, when sync is available and enabled, iCloud or Google Drive to distribute the app, process purchases, or sync your library. Those providers may process necessary data under their own terms and policies. Network, device, or third-party outages may temporarily affect purchases and sync; local study remains available subject to your device's capabilities.
10. Availability and backups
Reasonable efforts are made to keep Flashcard King available and secure, but uninterrupted, error-free operation and permanent compatibility with every device cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, updates, incidents, or events beyond reasonable control may cause interruptions. Keep your own copy of important study content whenever an export or backup option is available.
11. Suspension and termination
Access to Flashcard King services or features may be restricted or terminated for violations of these Terms, security risks, fraud, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the service, subject to applicable law and consumer rights. You may stop using Flashcard King, delete local data from your device, and request deletion of personal data that Flashcard King's responsible party may process, except where retention is legally required as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Flashcard King is not responsible for study decisions made solely by the user, academic outcomes, losses caused by incorrectly entered content, third-party outages, or use that violates these Terms. Nothing in these Terms excludes guarantees, liabilities, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
13. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated to reflect changes in the service, law, or security practices. The current version and its date will be made available in the app. Material changes may be communicated through additional notices and, where required, renewed consent.
14. Governing law and contact
The laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil apply, without limiting mandatory protections in the user's place of residence. Disputes will be submitted to the court determined by applicable law, preserving any consumer right to use the court of their domicile.
