1. Purpose and controller
This Privacy Policy explains how Flashcard King's responsible party, as controller of the personal data it processes, uses and protects information when you use the app. Your study library is stored on your device; optional sync uses your chosen platform cloud service. Processing follows Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and other applicable privacy laws. Requests may be submitted through Flashcard King's official support channels.
2. Data we may process
a) Profile and platform services: profile photo or avatar when provided; identifiers needed for optional iCloud or Google Drive sync and subscription information reported by the device store.
b) Study content: names and structures of decks, collections, and subcollections; flashcards; formatted text; emojis; images; audio recordings; and other content you create or upload.
c) Learning activity: selected study mode; difficulty ratings; review date, time, and duration; flashcard history; learning status; calculated stability and difficulty; next review; new, learning, consolidated, or suspended cards; daily sessions; study streaks; and statistics.
d) Preferences: language, device time zone, day-rollover time, and other available settings.
e) Technical and security data: device type, operating system, app version, and diagnostic or error records that may be generated on the device or by the platforms used.
Flashcard King does not intentionally request sensitive personal data for normal operation. Because flashcard fields are free-form, you may add sensitive information yourself. Do so only when necessary and when you have a lawful basis or authorization to process third-party data.
3. Sources of data
Data is provided by you, generated through your use of Flashcard King, reported by the Apple App Store or Google Play to verify purchases, and, if sync is active, processed through your selected iCloud or Google Drive account. Your time zone may be detected on the device to organize study days, charts, and reviews without changing a flashcard's scheduled absolute time.
4. How data is used
Data may be used to save your library on the device; sync it when available and enabled; store and display images and audio; organize decks and collections; provide search and filters; calculate review sessions and intervals; display history, schedules, progress, streaks, and statistics; support editing, moving, suspending, and deleting content; verify purchases and restore subscriptions through the stores; prevent fraud and abuse; diagnose errors; respond to requests; comply with legal obligations; and exercise rights in legal proceedings.
5. Legal bases
Depending on the activity and applicable law, processing may rely on performance of a contract, consent, compliance with legal obligations, the exercise of rights, legitimate interests that respect user rights, and other lawful bases recognized by the LGPD or applicable privacy law.
6. Storage and media organization
Study content, scheduling state, history, profile details, and media are stored locally on your device. When sync is available and active, a copy may be kept in your private iCloud database or the app's private Google Drive appDataFolder, subject to the provider's account and storage controls. Those technical locations do not make your study content public by themselves.
7. Sharing and processors
When you use sync or purchase Premium, Apple or Google may process the data needed for iCloud, Google Drive, the App Store, or Google Play under their own policies. Distribution, diagnostics, security, and support providers may also process data needed for their functions. Data may also be disclosed when required by law, a valid authority request, protection of rights and safety, or a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Flashcard King does not sell personal data.
Subscriptions and purchases
Flashcard King Premium purchases and restorations are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app receives product, status, and transaction information needed to grant access and may cache the last verified state locally. The store manages payment, renewal, and cancellation; Flashcard King's responsible party does not receive your full card number or banking details. Flashcard King does not use purchase data for advertising tracking across apps.
8. International transfers
Your library is stored on your device. When sync is available and active, iCloud or the app's private Google Drive storage may hold a copy under the relevant provider's policies. App stores and cloud providers may process data in other countries; any international transfer for which Flashcard King is responsible will follow applicable legal requirements.
9. Retention
Study data remains on the device until you or the system delete it. Synced copies, if any, follow iCloud or Google Drive controls and retention periods. Personal data that Flashcard King's responsible party may process is retained as needed for this Policy's purposes and legal obligations. Following an applicable deletion request, it will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or protection of rights. Residual provider backups may remain temporarily until their technical rotation completes.
10. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to reduce unauthorized access, loss, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Protection of the local library also depends on your device security; synced copies depend on iCloud or Google Drive account controls. No internet-connected system is completely secure. Protect your device and any provider account you use, and report suspicious activity.
11. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request confirmation of processing; access; correction; information about sharing; portability where available; anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary or unlawfully processed data; withdrawal of consent; review of certain automated decisions; and deletion of personal data Flashcard King may process. Identity verification may be required before fulfilling a request.
12. Children and teenagers
Where applicable, children and teenagers should use Flashcard King with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Flashcard King does not knowingly collect their data in violation of applicable law. A guardian may contact Flashcard King to exercise rights or report inappropriate use.
13. App and local storage
Flashcard King uses device storage to keep your library, media, and preferences available offline. Operating systems, app stores, and, when sync is active, cloud providers may process data under their own policies. Restricting essential device features may limit the app.
14. Automated processing and FSRS v6
FSRS v6 uses review history and user ratings to estimate memory state and future review intervals. This automated processing organizes study sessions; it does not produce legal or similarly significant effects. General Review does not change the spaced-repetition schedule, as indicated in the app.
15. Changes and contact
This Policy may be updated to reflect service, legal, or security changes. The current version and date will be available in the app. Questions, requests, or privacy complaints should be sent through Flashcard King's official support channels.
